The Nubs-
The Nubs are pretty great.
Both of them I mean.
In my lastest podcast I threw The Nubs-Job in on the end and got to thinking about the other Nubs.
This is a dueling Nubs post...plus one.
These Nubs come from New Hampshire. The tracks on this 7" differ from each other completely so much that it sounds as though it came from two different bands.
The Nubs- I Don't Need You (cause I got me) 1979
and now for something completely different....
The Nubs-Dogs
Overtime I read a lot of negative thoughts about "Dogs", while it may not be the breed of music one would be looking for to follow "I Don't Need You (cause I got me)" I find it hilarious and that 60's organ sound to be great. It's novelty dig?
And here we have San Francisco. 1980
THIS ONE RULES AND THEN RULES SOME MORE.
.....and then there is lovely cover rolling out of my home state of Ohio in Columbus.
New Bomb Turks-Job
Well done.

Hot Women and Heroes of the Blues
While we all know and love Robert Crumb as the amazing comic artist with an extreme gritty style and sometimes vulgar taste - my interest lies in his obsession with collecting and illustrating some of the most amazing and unheard of music. It is via his fame and digging to build compilations that some of the most wonderful sound bites have been unearthed.
Some years ago I walked into a shop on East Carson
Street in Pittsburgh PA-
Over the radio came the most primitive, honest melodies and vocal styles of wonderful women from decades past. I was of course blown away and shuffled myself to
the counter to inquire about what it that had taken over my ears. After some time- I recovered Hot Women for my own
and have been throwing it into the rotation ever since and I want to share it with you.
Maria Vasileiathou- "Arostisa Manoula Mou" Greek late 1930s
Cleoma Falcon- "Blues Negres"-Louisiana Cajun 1934
Grupo De "Algeria" :"El Tambor DE LA ALGERIA" Cuban 1928
In addition to these Hot Women Mr. Crumb's interest in collecting and illustrating the greats from the past hardly ends there. Recently, I picked up these wonderful trading cards from a local book shop. The deck includes 36 blues greats spanning decades. I choose some of my favorites to share with you but the list of course continues on...
